The Urban Review is always looking for sharp, thoughtful writing with a strong voice. We publish work that is intelligent, readable, and emotionally honest — writing that says something real, without trying too hard to impress.
WHAT WE PUBLISH
Fiction, current affairs, poetry, culture
Requirements
Word Count
800–2,000 words is ideal.
Exceptional pieces slightly outside this range may still be considered.
Payment
At this time, we are not paying for submissions.

How to Submit
Please email your submission to:
Include the following:
• Your piece pasted directly into the email body
• A Google Docs link (optional but acceptable)
• A short bio (2–3 sentences)
• Links to previous work (optional)

Response Time
We aim to respond within 7–14 days.
If you don’t hear back after two weeks, feel free to follow up once.
Editing Process
If your piece is accepted, we may suggest light edits for clarity, flow, or length.
We will never change your meaning or voice without your approval.
What We Don’t Want
Please do not send:
• Hate speech or incitement
• Promotional or advertorial content
• AI-generated articles
• Academic papers written in formal scholarly style
• Generic motivational pieces with no real substance
Rights & Terms
By submitting to The Urban Review, you confirm that:
• The work is original and not plagiarized
• You have the right to submit it
• The piece is not currently under contract elsewhere
If accepted:
• The Urban Review receives first publication rights
• You retain full ownership of your work
• You may republish elsewhere after publication, with credit to The Urban Review as the original publisher
We reserve the right to refuse any submission for any reason, and to edit accepted pieces for suitability, clarity, length, style, and house standards.
